On March 27, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation of the European Union headed by the High Representative for Foreign Affairs and Security Policy, Vice-President of the European Commission Kaja Kallas, the press service of the head of our state reports. The issues of expanding practical cooperation and preparing upcoming joint events were discussed.
At the beginning of the meeting, the high guest conveyed sincere greetings and best wishes to the head of our state from the President of the European Council António Costa and the President of the European Commission Ursula von der Leyen.
Particular attention was paid to the issues of holding the events of the first Central Asia-European Union summit on April 3-4 this year in the city of Samarkand. In this context, the fruitful results of the multilateral ministerial meeting held today in the city of Ashgabat were highly appreciated.
The importance of promoting mutually beneficial cooperation between the two regions in such priority areas as trade and logistics, including unlocking the potential of the Trans-Caspian Transport Corridor, digitalization, green energy, ecology, infrastructure modernization, and in other areas with the introduction of effective mechanisms for implementing initiatives and projects was emphasized.
The issues of further deepening relations between Uzbekistan and EU institutions were discussed.
The issues of adopting a new Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement and our country’s accession to the World Trade Organization were discussed.
An exchange of views on current issues of international and regional policy also took place.
