On June 11, ahead of the third meeting of the Foreign Investors Council, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development headed by its President Odile Renaud-Basso, the press service of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan reports.
The issues of further expansion of strategic cooperation between Uzbekistan and this authoritative international financial institution were discussed.
The expansion of the portfolio of joint projects was noted with satisfaction: EBRD investments in Uzbekistan have already exceeded 5.5 billion euros. The plans for the current year include attracting another 1.1 billion euros, a significant part of which will be directed to support the private sector.
The Partnership Strategy is being effectively implemented. With the active support of the Bank, the transformation of the banking sector is being carried out.
The head of our state emphasized the importance of increasing the effectiveness of cooperation and outlined the key priorities for interaction.
We are talking about such areas as technological modernization of the water supply system, promotion of the energy efficiency program, development of the mortgage market, development of the infrastructure of free economic zones, expansion of opportunities for small and medium-sized businesses, support for women’s entrepreneurship.
Particular attention was paid to promoting public-private partnership projects in the fields of education and medicine, supporting startups aimed at implementing artificial intelligence and digital transformation.
An exchange of views on the agenda of the upcoming third meeting of the Foreign Investors Council also took place.
