The President of Uzbekistan noted the great potential for cooperation with the Lombardy region

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Italian delegation headed by the Governor of Lombardy Attilio Fontana, who arrived in our country to participate in the Tashkent Investment Forum, the press service of the head of our state reports.

Lombardy is one of the most populated and largest regions of Italy, and is one of the most economically developed regions in Europe.

Practical aspects of mutually beneficial cooperation were discussed, primarily in the trade, economic and investment spheres.

The fruitful results of the recent negotiations with Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni in Samarkand were noted with deep satisfaction, during which an agreement was reached to support interregional contacts.

Today, in our country, projects on growing tomatoes, saffron, producing non-woven material and knitwear, and food products are being successfully implemented with Lombardy companies. Projects for the production of finished textiles, automotive electronics, building materials, processing of dairy and fruit and vegetable products, development of public transport and others are being developed.

The importance of increasing the portfolio of joint projects, wider involvement of advanced Italian technologies and investments in various sectors of the economy of Uzbekistan was emphasized.

An agreement was reached to hold an exhibition of industrial and export potential of Uzbekistan in Milan, open a trading house and launch an export line under the brand “Uzbek Organic”.

In order to expand cultural and humanitarian exchange, the organization of an exhibition of museum exhibits of Uzbekistan in Milan in 2026 is being worked out.

In turn, the governor expressed sincere gratitude to the President of our country for the comprehensive support provided to the projects and initiatives of the business circles of Lombardy. He confirmed his readiness to fully promote a full-scale business partnership with the regions of Uzbekistan.

At the end of the meeting, the head of our state wished Attilio Fontana success in preparing and holding the upcoming 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan.
