On the sidelines of the COP29 climate conference in Baku, in the National Pavilion of our country, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting with the Director General of the World Trade Organization (WTO) Ngozi Okonjo-Iweala, the press service of the head of our state reports.
They discussed current aspects of strengthening practical cooperation in matters of our country’s accession to the WTO.
Satisfaction was expressed with the process of holding meetings of the Working Group, as well as the dynamics of negotiations with member countries of this international organization.
Active work is underway to harmonize national legislation with the norms and rules of the WTO, including the abolition of export subsidies.
Special attention is paid to improving the qualifications of Uzbek specialists in matters of regulating international trade.
An exchange of views took place on measures to support Uzbekistan’s efforts to complete negotiations and the country’s accession to the organization in the coming years.
