The President of Uzbekistan noted the importance of strengthening trade and economic cooperation with Afghanistan

President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received Acting Minister of Industry and Trade of Afghanistan Nuriddin Azizi, who is participating in the events of the Tashkent International Investment Forum, the press service of the head of our state reports.

At the beginning of the conversation, the minister conveyed sincere greetings from the leadership of Afghanistan to the head of Uzbekistan.

The issues of further expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation in trade and economic, transport and logistics, energy and agricultural spheres, as well as in the field of geological exploration and mining were discussed.

The intensification of business contacts was noted with satisfaction. The volume of mutual trade turnover, the number of joint ventures are growing, business missions and exhibitions with the participation of companies from the two countries are regularly held. The International Trade Center in Termez is successfully operating. In May of this year, trading houses were opened in Kabul and Mazar-i-Sharif.

The head of Uzbekistan emphasized the importance of further strengthening the legal framework for economic and investment cooperation.

The need for the earliest possible construction of the Hairaton Industrial Center and the placement of facilities for the production of pharmaceuticals, furniture, textiles, construction materials, as well as for the processing of agricultural products was also noted.

Support was expressed for the implementation of such large regional infrastructure projects as the construction of the Trans-Afghan Railway and the Surkhan-Puli-Khumri power transmission line.
