On October 28, the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan hosted Minister Laziz Kudratov’s meeting with Deputy Chairman of the Upper house of the Malaysian Parliament Nur Jazlan Mohamad, who is in our country to participate in the parliamentary elections as an observer, the press service of the MIIT reports.
During the talks, Laziz Kudratov noted the positive dynamics of the development of Uzbek-Malaysian relations in recent years. Our country is increasing exports of services, chemicals and food products to Malaysia. A representative office of the Malaysian Foreign Trade Development Corporation (MATRADE) was opened at the Malaysian Embassy in Tashkent. There are 37 enterprises with Malaysian capital operating in Uzbekistan.
Based on the common belief in the need to multiply the scale of cooperation and use the existing potential, the parties outlined new promising areas for the development of bilateral trade and economic ties, agreed on measures to activate existing agreements, one of which is the creation of an “Uzbek-Malaysian industrial zone” to accommodate joint projects with leading Malaysian manufacturers.
As a result of the meeting, a format for further interaction was developed with the identification of responsible persons from both sides and specific deadlines for the implementation of the discussed projects and initiatives.
