On July 14, 2025, as part of preparations for the implementation of a key stage of the construction of a nuclear power plant in the Republic of Uzbekistan, negotiations are being held in Tashkent with the participation of representatives of the ‘‘Uzatom’’ Agency, the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Trade of Hungary, Hungarian companies ‘‘MVM EGI Zrt.’’, ‘‘Pólus’’, ‘‘OTP Bank Uzbekistan’’, as well as Russian JSC ‘‘Atomstroyexport’’ and JSC ‘‘Atomenergoproekt’’. This was reported by the press service of the ‘‘Uzatom’’ Agency.
One of the key issues on the agenda was the discussion of models of interaction in the supply and production of dry cooling towers – critical equipment for ensuring reliable and efficient operation of the plant.
Particular attention was paid to the issue of localization of production in Uzbekistan, including through the creation of a joint venture (JV) based on a free economic zone. This step will not only increase the share of local participation in the implementation of the project, but will also lay the foundation for subsequent industrial development in the region.
The meeting also discussed the possibilities of developing human resources. ‘‘MVM EGI Zrt.’’ confirmed its readiness to assist in the training and retraining of specialists, including through the organization of educational programs, internships and the provision of the necessary conditions for training.
The parties expressed confidence that the development of a multi-level partnership based on transparency, technological openness and mutual benefit will contribute to the successful implementation of one of the largest energy projects in Central Asia.
