Uzbekistan and Vietnam have launched several new projects

The Uzbek-Vietnamese round table, held in Tashkent, was organized as part of the official visit to our country by Tran Thanh Manh, the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, the press service of the MIIT reports.

The event was attended by Jamshid Khodjaev, the Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan, and Tran Hong Ha, the Deputy Prime Minister of Vietnam. Also present were heads of relevant ministries and departments, along with representatives from prominent Vietnamese companies, including Petrovietnam, Vinachem, Sovico, Vietnam Airlines, Vinafood, Vietravel, Perseus, Delion, and others.

The agenda included current issues related to expanding bilateral trade and economic investment cooperation. This encompasses collaboration in various sectors, including energy, oil and gas, the chemical industry, geology, agriculture, healthcare, digitalization, tourism, and pharmaceuticals.

In his speech, Jamshid Khodjaev highlighted the strong Uzbek-Vietnamese dialogue, emphasizing Uzbekistan’s commitment to actively pursuing joint initiatives focused on industrial partnerships, technological exchange, and the enhancement of logistics connections.

The Vietnamese side also expressed its commitment to actively participating in joint projects, establishing joint ventures, implementing measures to increase mutual trade volumes, launching new flights, and opening Uzbek trading houses in Vietnam.

The leaders of the Vietnamese companies Petrovietnam, Sovico, and Delion have expressed interest in undertaking projects in the areas of energy, aviation, digital transformation, food production, and information and communication technologies.

In turn, the Chairman of the National Assembly of the Socialist Republic of Vietnam, Tran Thanh Man, expressed gratitude to the people and government of Uzbekistan for their warm welcome. He emphasized that today’s dialogue was a logical continuation of his meeting with the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Sh.M. Mirziyoyev, during which agreements were reached to expand the strategic partnership and elevate trade and investment cooperation to a new level.

Following the roundtable discussion, a Memorandum of Understanding was signed between the Ministries of Health of both countries, along with a Cooperation Program between the Ministries of Foreign Affairs of Uzbekistan and Vietnam for 2025-2026. Additionally, a Plan of Practical Activities for the Development of Cooperation between Uzbekistan and Vietnam for the same period was also established.

These documents outline specific steps to enhance multifaceted bilateral cooperation. These steps include convening a meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, establishing a joint working group on trade issues, organizing business forums, opening trading houses, conducting roadshows, and initiating direct flights.

The parties also plan to implement projects in agriculture, the oil and gas sector, the chemical industry, pharmaceuticals, and geological exploration.

The round table confirmed the strong interest of both parties in establishing a robust, multifaceted, and long-term partnership designed to unlock the economic potential of both countries.
