Uzbekistan is becoming a promising destination for small and medium businesses in Malaysia

During the meeting, the Malaysian side expressed interest in developing trade and economic ties with Uzbekistan, noting the significant potential and favorable business climate in the country for the implementation of joint business projects.

According to Megan Su, the strategic position of Uzbekistan in the region and the dynamically developing economy are of interest to SMITA companies in carrying out activities in Uzbekistan.

The President of the Association emphasized the readiness to implement a number of joint projects with local partners, including increasing the flow of Malaysian tourists to Uzbekistan, creating a catering network focused on foreign tourists from Southeast Asia, expanding the export of fruit and vegetable products to Malaysia, as well as mineral fertilizers from Uzbekistan.

The parties also discussed cooperation with major retail chains of Uzbekistan, such as ‘‘Korzinka’’, ‘‘Makro’’, ‘‘Havas’’ and ‘‘Asia.uz’’, to expand bilateral trade in goods, the creation of a special online platform to promote products manufactured in Uzbekistan in Southeast Asian countries, and the implementation of projects in the processing of agricultural products and textile production.

SMITA was founded in 2015 to help small and medium enterprises and start-ups in Malaysia enter the global market. The association represents the interests of more than 100 companies (SMITA Malaysia) in Malaysia and more than 300 companies (SMITA Global) from other countries operating in the fields of manufacturing, trade and tourism.
