On April 11 this year, Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Khurram Teshabayev held a meeting with representatives of the Ministry of Trade of Turkey and the Turkish Standards Institute, at which further comprehensive measures were discussed to increase the volume of bilateral trade between the two countries. This was reported by the press service of the MIIT.
During the talks, the positive dynamics in the development of multifaceted Uzbek-Turkish strategic cooperation observed in the past few years was emphasized, which became possible thanks to trusting relations and constant dialogue between the leaders of the two states.
An exchange of views took place on the development of mutual trade. The volume of bilateral trade between Uzbekistan and Turkey has increased one and a half times over the past 5 years, from $2.1 billion in 2018 to $3.2 billion in 2022. Measures are being taken to diversify the structure of trade.
They also discussed the current state and prospects for further cooperation in the framework of the elimination of technical barriers to trade, technical regulation, standardization and further expansion of multifaceted and mutually beneficial relations in the field of conformity assessment.
Cooperation with the Turkish Standards Institute (TSE), the Turkish Accreditation Agency (TÜRKAK) and the Turkish National Metrology Institute (TÜBİTAK UME) is successfully developing in order to develop the quality infrastructure. The successful activity of the Uzbek-Turkish Testing Center joint venture, which provides practical assistance in testing and certifying products to hundreds of local manufacturers, was noted.
As the result of the meeting, mutual readiness to continue cooperation was expressed and a format for active interaction was developed in order to create the most favorable conditions for the development of trade relations between the two countries.
