On July 16, 2025, Abdulla Azizov, Director of the Pharmaceutical Industry Development Agency, held a meeting with Jonathan Henik, Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the United States to Uzbekistan, the Agency’s press service reports.
During the meeting, the Agency’s director provided the ambassador with detailed information on the current state of the Uzbek pharmaceutical market, its export potential, and the projects being implemented in the innovative scientific and production pharmaceutical cluster ‘‘Tashkent Pharma Park’’. In particular, the infrastructure within the framework of the pharmaceutical cluster project, the regulatory system in accordance with international standards, R&D centers, biotechnology enterprises, a genomics center, and clinical research opportunities were discussed.
The ambassador noted the growing interest of US companies and scientific institutions in potential cooperation opportunities in Uzbekistan. The parties discussed the possibilities of developing academic and scientific cooperation with US higher education institutions and research institutes, organizing information and training programs on FDA procedures, and expanding cooperation in the field of clinical research and technology transfer.
Also, issues of strengthening cooperation within the framework of Fulbright, Faculty Enrichment, IVLP and other programs, establishing grants and exchange of experience for researchers were considered.
At the end of the meeting, the two sides agreed to establish regular dialogue and exchange of information in these areas.
