An agreement was reached in Ankara on further expansion of ties between business circles of Uzbekistan and Turkey

The Ambassador of Uzbekistan Ilkhom Khaidarov met with the President of the Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey (TOBB) Rifat Hisarciklioglu, the correspondent of ‘‘Dunyo’’ news agency reports.

The Union of Chambers and Commodity Exchanges of Turkey was founded on March 8, 1950 in Ankara and is an association of all regional chambers of commerce and industry, as well as commodity exchanges. Today, the union includes 367 chambers and exchanges, and about 2 million enterprises are its members.

The current state and prospects for the development of trade, economic and investment relations between the two countries were discussed at the meeting.

Rifat Hisarciklioglu shared that he had repeatedly visited Uzbekistan, where he took part in a number of events and business forums with Uzbek and Turkish business circles. He warmly recalled his meeting with President Shavkat Mirziyoyev in April 2023, when he presented the national electric car of Turkey TOGG.

The meeting also discussed the issue of expanding cooperation with TOBB ETÜ University and further increasing the visits of qualified teachers from Ankara to Tashkent. Currently, 30 students from the Tashkent branch of TOBB ETÜ University are studying in Ankara.

Following the meeting, an agreement was reached on familiarization with the activities of the Union’s Turkish Economic Policy Research Foundation (TEPAV) and using its experience and capabilities.

The TOBB President stated that since 2024, efforts have been actively implemented to develop cooperation in the fields of textiles, leather footwear, building materials, glass, furniture, pharmaceuticals and jewelry, and negotiations are underway on joint projects.

An agreement was reached on the joint organization of the ‘‘Uzbekistan Investors’ Day’’ in Istanbul in September-October this year, as well as the further development of interregional cooperation.
