Representatives of the Embassy of Uzbekistan visited the Pakistani city of Sargodha to hold talks on further deepening cooperation and exploring opportunities to diversify bilateral trade and economic ties, the correspondent of ‘‘Dunyo’’ news agency reports.
The city of Sargodha is located in the province of Punjab and is one of the major industrial and agricultural centers of Pakistan. The population is about 1 million people. The city is known for its metal casting, glass and textile industries, production of footwear, pesticides, diesel engines, as well as certified electrical equipment for the European market. Sargodha is also famous for its citrus fruits, especially the ‘‘Kinnow’’ mandarin.
At a meeting at the Sargodha Chamber of Commerce and Industry, prospects for cooperation with this region of Pakistan, which has great industrial and agricultural potential, were discussed. The event was attended by more than 50 representatives of local business circles, small and medium businesses.
In his opening speech, the First Vice President of the Chamber Muhammad Imran noted that all organizational and legal frameworks have been created for the active establishment of business ties between the two countries, which arouses great interest among entrepreneurs of Sargodha in establishing direct business ties with Uzbek partners.
A presentation of the economic potential of our country, the possibilities of free economic zones, the conditions created for the localization of production, the advantages of launching new production capacities in the FEZ of Uzbekistan took place, the participants were provided with the necessary statistical information.
During the question and answer session, the prospects for developing cooperation in a number of areas were discussed. In particular, proposals from the parties to optimize customs processes related to the organization of production capacities, establish cooperation in the field of rare metal mining and the jewelry industry, deepen interaction in the fields of poultry farming and digital technologies, as well as the possibilities of growing and supplying high-quality rice varieties were considered.
Following the talks, an agreement was reached on organizing mutual visits and B2B meetings between delegations of entrepreneurs from Sargodha and Uzbekistan, as well as on holding a special exhibition of products from Sargodha enterprises in Tashkent.
During the visit, target plans were also outlined to establish large-scale and mutually beneficial cooperation with the city of Sargodha in the field of agro-export, electrical engineering, jewelry and digital technologies.
