Ambassador of Uzbekistan Karomiddin Gadoev met with the President and CEO of the Malaysian corporation ‘‘Tenaga Nasional Berhad’’ Megat Jaloliddin bin Hasan, the correspondent of ‘‘Dunyo’’ news agency reports.
During the meeting, the prospects for mutually beneficial cooperation in the energy sector were discussed. It was emphasized that the unique experience of the corporation, covering the full cycle of production, transmission, distribution and supply of electricity to consumers, will be beneficial for implementation in Uzbekistan.
The Malaysian side was invited to invest in the construction of small and medium-sized hydroelectric power plants in the mountainous regions of our country, to implement projects for the development and modernization of the electric grid infrastructure on the basis of public-private partnership.
The President of the Malaysian corporation said that the proposals submitted by the Uzbek side will be positively considered by the company’s specialists. An agreement was reached on assigning a responsible employee of the corporation to discuss cooperation projects.
Founded in 1949, ‘‘Tenaga Nasional Berhad’’ is the largest energy company in Southeast Asia. 45% of the corporation’s shares are owned by trust funds controlled by the country’s government. The corporation’s main activities are the generation, transmission and distribution of electricity, repair and testing of power plants, provision of engineering, construction and technical services, as well as coal mining. The corporation employs about 14 thousand people.
