The Ambassador of Uzbekistan Ravshan Usmanov met with Secretary General of the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) Kazuhiko Koguchi, the correspondent of ‘‘Dunyo’’ news agency reports.
At the meeting, it was noted that the EBRD has implemented 162 projects in cooperation with Uzbekistan, with 52% of the total project portfolio falling in the private sector.
During the conversation, attention was paid to the further expansion and development of financial and investment cooperation between Uzbekistan and the EBRD. A high assessment was given to the large-scale reforms being implemented in all areas in Uzbekistan, and their support was expressed.
It was noted that the EBRD’s activities in the republic promote privatization, attracting foreign direct investment, supporting the ‘‘green’’ economy, energy and transport projects, as well as the introduction of public-private partnerships and the development of youth entrepreneurship.
The parties discussed prospects for further development of cooperation.
Following the meeting, an agreement was reached to organize bilateral meetings and visits with the aim of intensifying cooperation in the above-mentioned areas.
