The regular meeting of the Uzbek-British Trade and Industry Council (UBTIC) ended in London

The 27th meeting of the Uzbek-British Trade and Industry Council (UBTIC) was held in London, the correspondent of “Dunyo” news agency reports.

The annual UBTIC forum, which was established by the governments of the UK and Uzbekistan in 1994 to discuss opportunities to promote and increase bilateral trade and investment, was attended by over 200 representatives of leading companies, educational institutions and financial institutions.

As part of the forum, the delegation of Uzbekistan, led by Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Badriddin Obidov, held negotiations with Deputy Secretary of State and Minister of Export Malcolm Offord.

The parties discussed the prospects for the development of bilateral relations in the trade, economic and investment spheres. The leadership of the British Foreign Trade Office expressed its readiness to actively promote the creation of favorable conditions for increasing British investment in the development of the economy of Uzbekistan. In turn, the Uzbek side expressed interest in attracting British capital and technology.

The two-day program also included a business forum, five panel sessions, including in the areas of financial cooperation and IPOs, education and increasing the supply of textile products to the British market, transport and civil infrastructure, as well as digital technologies.

The UK business community has shown growing interest in implementing projects in mining, pharmaceuticals, infrastructure development and other sectors.

As a result of the meetings, several documents on cooperation with leading universities and IT parks in the UK were signed. A joint “Road Map” for the development of trade, economic and investment cooperation was adopted.

Separate negotiations took place with the management of the export credit agency “UKIEF”, as well as leading companies and banks, including Standard Chartered, Barclays and Citibank. Issues related to the implementation of specific projects with their participation were discussed.
