A meeting was held with the IMF delegation at the Ministry of Economy and Finance

The Deputy Prime Minister of the Republic of Uzbekistan — Minister of Economy and Finance Jamshid Kuchkarov held a meeting with representatives of the International Monetary Fund (IMF) delegation on fiscal affairs, the Information service of the Ministry reports.

The delegation was led by Shafik Hebous, Deputy Division Chief of the Fiscal Affairs Department of the International Monetary Fund (IMF). The meeting was also attended by Jean-François Wen, Lead Economist at the department; Barbara Stage, Short-Term Expert on Corporate Tax Incentives; Philipp Wingender, Senior Economist at the Modeling Unit; and Giorgi Kandelaki, Tax Administration Advisor. From the Uzbek side, the meeting was attended by Deputy Minister of Economy and Finance Akhadbek Khaydarov, First Deputy Chairman of the Tax Committee Mubin Mirzayev, and other responsible officials.

During the meeting, the parties discussed key priorities for further improving Uzbekistan’s fiscal policy, including broadening the revenue base, promoting investment and economic growth, and protecting the corporate income tax base.

The IMF representatives also presented their proposals and technical approaches aimed at improving customs policy, enhancing regulatory efficiency, and aligning the principles of equity and efficiency in tax policy.

During the meeting, the parties exchanged views and expressed their readiness to continue cooperation in deepening the ongoing reforms with the support of the IMF, particularly in enhancing the tax system’s focus on social equity and its positive impact on the business environment.
