A round table on the topic of ‘‘Prospects for supporting and developing the activities of domestic construction companies in foreign markets’’ was held at the MIIT

The Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade held a round table on the topic of ‘‘Prospects for Support and Development of Domestic Construction Companies in Foreign Markets’’, the press service of the Ministry reports.

The event was attended by the Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov and more than 20 heads of local construction companies, who shared their problems and proposals for the development of the industry.

Based on specific cases, current issues that prevent local construction companies from participating in tenders for the construction of large facilities financed by international financial institutions (IFIs) in domestic and foreign markets were discussed.

It was noted that 114 projects are currently being implemented with the participation of IFI/IFFI credit funds with a total purchase value of $15.5 billion. In the period from January to September of this year, purchases were made for 450 lots, which is 118% of the forecast volume. Meanwhile, 131 contracts were concluded with local companies for a total of $443.2 million, or 39.4% of the total number of contracts. Work is underway to bring this figure up to 70%.

Entrepreneurs also put forward 15 specific proposals based on practical experience aimed at stimulating the participation of local construction companies in large projects financed by IFIs in other countries.

All the proposals voiced were accepted for further development and formation of systemic centralized measures. Responsible managers were given instructions to intensify work with international financial organizations in terms of allocating quotas for attracting local construction companies in the implementation of large investment projects in the country.
