Representatives of the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Pakistan visited the city of Peshawar in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province as part of economic diplomacy, the correspondent of ‘‘Dunyo’’ news agency reports.
It should be noted that the city of Peshawar is one of the largest industrial and export-oriented centers of Pakistan. It is known for the production of medical supplies, medical instruments, leather goods, metal structures, textiles, ceramics, most of which are exported to more than 50 countries.
During the visit, a meeting was held with the President of the Peshawar Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) Shakeel Ahmad Khan and local businessmen from the sectors of pharmaceuticals, leather, textile industry, medical equipment production, agriculture and trade.
At the meeting, materials on the economic and investment potential of Uzbekistan and commercial proposals were presented, the procedures for the creation and registration of joint ventures were explained. A presentation of the free economic zone ‘‘Ayritom’’ was held. Entrepreneurs were informed about the introduction of a simplified visa regime for businessmen and direct flights between our countries.
The meeting participants were presented with investment projects that can be implemented in the Andijan, Namangan and Fergana regions.
Pakistani entrepreneurs noted with satisfaction the opportunities opening up for the development of cooperation and expressed interest in establishing business partnerships with pharmaceutical companies of Uzbekistan, importing raw leather, agricultural products, cotton, creating production of medical equipment, veterinary drugs.
Following the negotiations, an agreement was reached to organize a visit to Uzbekistan of a delegation of 10 businessmen headed by the President of the Peshawar Chamber of Commerce and Industry, continue the dialogue with entrepreneurs working in various regions of our country and representatives of local authorities, as well as familiarize themselves with the created conditions.
