From January to December 2022, 5.2 million foreigners visited Uzbekistan for the purpose of tourism, including 567.7 thousand Russians. This is reported by the State Statistics Committee of the country.
Kazakhstan became the leader in the number of tourists visiting Uzbekistan – 1551.1 thousand people. In second place is Tajikistan (1447.8 thousand), in third place is Kyrgyzstan (1356.9 thousand), Russia is in fourth place.
The growth in the number of Russian tourists was three times higher than in 2021, when 190.5 thousand Russians visited Uzbekistan.
Interest in Uzbekistan was also shown by tourists from Turkey (75.6 thousand), South Korea (19.9 thousand), Germany (17.7 thousand), India (16.8 thousand), USA (13.1 thousand .), France (11 thousand), Great Britain (10.5 thousand) and other countries.
In general, the number of foreign tourists in Uzbekistan, as well as the growth dynamics, has not yet reached the pre-pandemic level. So, in 2019, 6.74 million foreigners visited the country, and in 2018 – 5.34 million. And the increase in the number of tourists from Russia looks unprecedented against this background.
