On July 3 of this year, Deputy Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Akram Aliev, held a meeting with the President and Chief Executive Officer of ‘‘Sojitz Corporation’’, Mr. Kosuke Uemura, the press service of the Ministry reports.
Sojitz Corporation is a Japanese company established in 2004. It operates in key sectors such as energy, infrastructure, industry, agriculture, and healthcare. The company’s total assets amount to USD 19.2 billion, and its workforce includes 25,300 employees. In June 2024, Sojitz opened a representative office in Tashkent, and in September of the same year, a strategic “Roadmap” for the further development of cooperation was signed.
During the meeting, the parties discussed the implementation of several large-scale projects, including the construction of a multidisciplinary hospital in the city of Samarkand based on public-private partnership principles, a 1,573 MW combined-cycle power plant in the Syrdarya region, and a 1 GW wind power plant in the Navoi region.
Both sides emphasized the importance of strengthening strategic partnership through the expansion of the investment project portfolio in the fields of energy, healthcare, and infrastructure.
