Uzbekistan’s GDP for the first half increased by 5.8%

According to preliminary estimates, the gross domestic product (GDP) of the Republic of Uzbekistan for January-June 2019 in current prices amounted to 222,022.0 billion soums and, in comparison with January-June 2018, increased in real terms by 5.8%.

At the end of June, at a meeting held under the chairmanship of Shavkat Mirziyoyev, it was reported that in the first half of the year GDP is expected to grow by 5.4%. In practice, it turned out to be 0.4% more.

Compared with the corresponding period last year, the share of agriculture, forestry and fishery in the sectoral structure of GDP (GVA) decreased from 27.3% to 24.3%, while the share of industry increased from 27.1% to 30 , 3%, construction – from 7.3% to 7.6%.

The share of the service sector in the sectoral structure of GDP (GVA) was 37.8% and, as compared with the same period last year, decreased by 0.5 percentage points

The economic growth rate is due to the positive dynamics in the main sectors of the economy. The gross value added created by all sectors of the economy amounted to 90.0% of total GDP and increased by 5.8% (contribution to GDP growth – 5.1 percentage points). Net taxes on products amounted to 10.0% in the structure of GDP and showed an increase of 5.9% (contribution to GDP growth – 0.7 percentage points).
