On April 30, 2020, a meeting of the Ministers of Transport of the Turkic Council countries hold a video conference.
The event was attended by the heads of the relevant ministries of Azerbaijan, Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkey, Uzbekistan, Hungary, as well as the Secretary General of the Cooperation Council of Turkic-speaking countries.
The parties discussed ways to ensure the continuity of transport operations in the fight against a new type of coronavirus.
Ministers discussed the possibility of taking the necessary measures to facilitate transport through the Trans-Caspian East-West international transport corridor and eliminate the negative effects of the global pandemic on the economies of the region.
The participants in the online meeting agreed to consider the possibility of providing mutual benefits in such areas as transport quotas, transit documents, fees and driving visas between Member States.
They also discussed the reduction of fees on Ro-Ro lines along the Caspian Sea, the provision of the necessary additional transit documents and the mutual cancellation of fares.
At the meeting, it was decided to create a task force with the participation of representatives of the ministries of transport and trade of the parties and customs departments in order to effectively coordinate transportation and logistics, as well as quickly find solutions to pressing problems.
