Air Products invests $1 billion in the gas chemical industry of Uzbekistan

On May 25, 2023, between the Ministry of Investments, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan, Air Products and Uzbekneftegaz JSC signed an Investment Agreement in the amount of $ 1 billion on the development of a production complex for processing natural gas in the Kashkadarya region. This was reported by the PR center of the MIIT.

This complex is part of Uzbekistan GTL, one of the most modern energy enterprises in the world, which produces 1.5 million tons of high value-added synthetic liquid fuels per year. The plans include the sale of products both in the domestic and foreign markets.

For reference: On December 25, 2021, the world’s fifth Uzbekistan GTL complex for the production of synthetic liquid fuel was launched in Guzar district of Kashkadarya region. Before him, such large complexes were built in Qatar, Nigeria, South Africa and Malaysia.

Seifi Gasem, Chairman of the Board of Directors, President and CEO of Air Products, commented: “Through the signed agreement, we will be able to apply the most advanced technologies and knowledge in Uzbekistan, a country with high growth rates. This agreement will ensure the production of high-quality and cheap fuel and satisfy the growing needs of the population. The ceremony will also highlight a number of benefits of using Air Products’ experience in the production of high value-added products based on deep processing of natural gas at the GTL plant in Uzbekistan, such as increased efficiency, reduced production costs and reduced harmful emissions into the atmosphere.
