Air Products has agreed with Navoiazot to create a complex for the production of industrial carbon dioxide, Spot reports, citing the press service of the American corporation.
The facility will process raw carbon dioxide (CO2) captured at the plant’s ammonia production line into high-purity CO2. It is noted that this production will be the first of its kind in Uzbekistan.
The amount of investment in the construction of the complex is estimated at $15 million. The plant is planned to be launched at the end of this year.
The capacity of the future complex will be 120 tons per day. According to Air Products, its creation will reduce the consumption of natural gas in the production of CO2 for industry and solve interruptions in the supply of raw materials during the high season.
The purified gas will be supplied to beverage producers, agro-industrial sector and food processing enterprises. It will also be used in the preparation of welding mixtures, the production of paper, glass, cryomedicine, and the transport industry.
“Our plant will convert raw CO2 into high-purity carbon dioxide, setting new production standards in the region. These investments demonstrate our commitment to creating a greener future in Uzbekistan and beyond,” said Kirill Korotkov, Commercial Director of Air Products Uzbekistan.
In 2023, the American company was involved in a project for processing industrial gases produced by the Uzbekistan GTL complex and in the construction of a methanol plant for Saneg. The investment program of Air Products in the republic is estimated at $10 billion.
