On March 9 this year, the Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Laziz Kudratov met with a delegation of the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank led by President Jin Liqiong. This was reported by the press service of the MIIT.
During the meeting, the current state of affairs on the implementation of existing projects, as well as the prospects for expanding financial and technical cooperation between the Republic of Uzbekistan and the AIIB, were discussed.
The Bank’s management highly appreciated the ongoing administrative reforms in Uzbekistan and assured of the AIIB’s readiness to continue work on further expanding the scale of cooperation with Uzbekistan. In this context, the progressive growth in the volume of project financing in the Republic of Uzbekistan at the expense of the Bank is emphasized.
Following the meeting, the parties signed a “Joint Declaration between the Ministry of Investment, Industry and Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan and the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank”, which provides for the development of a rolling three-year cooperation program between Uzbekistan and the AIIB for the period 2023-2026. The program includes the implementation of projects in the fields of energy, infrastructure development, education, healthcare and support for public-private partnerships.
