The Ambassador of Uzbekistan Fariddin Nasriev met with the Governor of the Iranian province of Bushir Ahmad Muhammadizadeh, the correspondent of the “Dunyo” news agency reports.
At the meeting, the parties discussed issues of bringing interregional cooperation between the two countries to a new level in various fields, including trade and economic, investment, tourism, cultural and humanitarian relations.
Ahmad Muhammadizadeh noted that the official visit of the President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev to Tehran in June 2023 was a historical event, and the constant dialogue between the leaders is an important step in the development of cooperation between the two countries.
Stressing the importance of interregional cooperation, Governor Bushir expressed interest in establishing relations with the regions of Uzbekistan. It is noted that Bushehr shares a water border with Saudi Arabia, the United Arab Emirates, Qatar, Bahrain and Kuwait. In this regard, Uzbekistan has the opportunity to enter the markets of these countries through the port in Bushehr. The Iranian side expressed its readiness to allocate land to Uzbekistan in the Bushehr free economic zone.
In addition, the region is a leader in the export of dates and small shrimp products. In this regard, it was proposed to organize mutual visits of representatives of the business communities of the two countries to the regions, organize joint art exhibitions to develop mutual trade relations.
Bushehr’s main economic sectors are oil and gas production, chemicals, oil refining, agriculture, fishing and tourism. Bushehr is also home to the important port of Bandar Bushehr, the second most important port in Iran after Bandar Abbas, and a free economic zone.
