The Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) will provide a loan for the construction of a new thermal power plant in Uzbekistan. It was reported by UzDaily.uz.
According to JBIC, the bank signed a $383 million loan agreement with Enersok Foreign Enterprise.
Enersok Foreign Enterprise is the general contractor for the construction of a thermal power plant in the Syrdarya region with a capacity of 1.6 GW. After the launch of the TPP. The company will manage it for 25 years.
Mizuho, Sumitomo Mitsui, Société Générale, and the International Finance Corporation are also expected to provide $805 million in loans for the project. Part of the loan provided by private banks will be insured by Nippon Export and Investment Insurance.
Recall that the consortium of companies EDF International S.A.S. (France), Nebras Power Investment Management B.V. (Qatar), Sojitz Corporation (Japan) and Kyuden International Corporation (Japan) was declared the winner of the tender for the construction of the Syrdarya-2 combined cycle thermal power plant.
The consortium established the Enersok project company in order to implement the investment project.
The President of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev signed a resolution “On measures to implement the investment project “Construction of a combined cycle power plant with a capacity of 1,573 MW in the Bayaut district of the Syrdarya region”.
