A Chinese company plans to create a vaccine center near Tashkent

The Ministry of Innovation and Luye Investment Group signed a memorandum on the organization of an innovation center for the production of vaccines in Uzbekistan.

The signing took place on September 13, during an online conference dedicated to the SCO summit. The head of the ministry, Ibragim Abdurakhmonov, discussed the development and production of vaccines with the leadership of a Chinese company.

The planned center will be the only full-cycle biotechnology enterprise in Central Asia. It is expected that it will be able to supply high-tech products to the local market and to the CIS countries.

The center will produce 10 types of vaccines against viral hepatitis, papillomavirus, measles, tetanus and other diseases. It is planned to produce 200 million doses of vaccines annually at a cost of $2 billion.

The amount of investment in the project will be $100 million, it is expected to be implemented by 2028. Taking into account the science intensity of the future center, it is planned to place it in the Tashkent region.
