The leaders of Uzbekistan and Azerbaijan stressed the importance of building up practical cooperation

Upon arrival in Baku, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev. This was reported by the press service of the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan.


The Presidents reviewed in detail the implementation of the agreements reached at the highest level. It was noted with deep satisfaction that thanks to systematic and productive contacts, the Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations of strategic partnership have reached a qualitatively new level, filled with concrete content.

Last year, trade between the two countries increased by more than 50 percent. The implementation of cooperation projects in such priority areas as the automotive industry, the textile industry and sericulture is in the active phase. Preparations are underway for promising projects in the oil and gas sector, transport and logistics.

Within the framework of the first Forum of Regions held in Tashkent in February of this year, an Agreement on the establishment of a joint Investment Fund was signed.

The interest in the exchange of experience in the development of the activities of free economic zones and the system of tax administration was noted.

The importance of further expansion of cultural and humanitarian exchanges was emphasized.

The heads of state discussed topical international and regional issues, considered a schedule of upcoming events.

The meeting was held in a traditionally open, warm and friendly atmosphere.
