On April 5, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev held a meeting in the city of Khiva, the press service of the head of our state reports.
Issues of further strengthening Uzbek-Kazakh relations of strategic partnership and alliance, expanding comprehensive practical cooperation were discussed.
Particular attention was paid to the issues of accelerating cooperation projects, implementing investment agreements and trade contracts in accordance with previously reached agreements at the highest level.
The heads of state heard reports from Deputy Prime Ministers, co-chairs of the Working Groups under the Intergovernmental Commission on the promotion of joint projects in such areas as mechanical engineering, energy, transport and logistics, mining, textile and food industries and other industries.
The presidents gave specific instructions to increase trade turnover, formulate a long-term program of industrial cooperation, as well as implement infrastructure projects in the fields of transport and energy.
The importance of starting practical work on creating an International Center for Industrial Cooperation this year and expanding the activities of a joint foreign trade company was noted.
The issues of developing humanitarian and tourism ties, holding joint events in the field of culture, education and sports with the participation of young people were discussed in detail.
An exchange of views took place on regional issues, in particular the rational use of water resources, deepening cooperation within the framework of the Consultative Meetings of the Heads of State of Central Asia, as well as the development of the situation in Afghanistan.
The schedule of upcoming joint events in bilateral and multilateral formats was considered.
The meeting took place in a traditionally open, warm and friendly atmosphere.
