Uzbekistan and Russia Leaders Discuss Current Issues of Bilateral and Regional Agenda

On August 22, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a telephone conversation with the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin, press service of the head of state reports.

The most current issues of strengthening bilateral relations of strategic partnership and alliance, promoting regional cooperation in view of the upcoming top-level events were discussed.

A particular attention is paid to the preparations and holding meetings as part of the program of the regular meeting of the Council of Heads of State of the Shanghai Cooperation Organization, which will be held in mid-September this year in the city of Samarkand.

In addition, the Presidents of Uzbekistan and Russia discussed the practical aspects of promoting joint projects and programs in the trade, economic and investment spheres.

The importance of continuing active contacts and exchanges at the government and department levels was noted.

The leaders of the two countries also supported the expansion of mutually beneficial cooperation between the regions of Uzbekistan and Russia. In this regard, a major importance is attached to hold the Interregional Forum in our country this autumn.
