Leaders of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan confirmed commitment to further strengthening full-scale cooperation

As part of his stay in Ashgabat, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the National Leader of the Turkmen People, Chairman of the Halk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov, the press service of the head of our state reports.

The head of our state sincerely congratulated Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov on holding the International Forum at the highest level, dedicated to the 300th anniversary of the birth of the poet and philosopher Makhtumkuli Fragi.

During the conversation, special attention was paid to the issues of further expanding the Uzbek-Turkmen strategic partnership, deepening multifaceted cooperation, primarily in the political, inter-parliamentary, trade and economic, cultural and humanitarian spheres.

The dynamic growth of mutual trade turnover, joint work on launching a border trade zone, strengthening cooperation in the field of energy, transport, agriculture and water management were noted with satisfaction.

Events are regularly held within the framework of active interregional, business, cultural and humanitarian exchange.

The leaders of Uzbekistan and Turkmenistan also considered current issues on the regional and international agenda.

The schedule of upcoming contacts at the highest level was discussed.

The head of our state presented the National Leader of the Turkmen people with a collection of selected works by Makhtumkuli, published in the Uzbek language.
