According to the report of “Gazeta.Uz”, the energy ministers of Uzbekistan and Kazakhstan, as well as the head of Gazprom, held a meeting in St. Petersburg to discuss trilateral cooperation in the gas industry.
On February 9, a trilateral working meeting was held in St. Petersburg between the Minister of Energy of Uzbekistan Zhurabek Mirzamakhmudov, the Minister of Energy of Kazakhstan Bolat Akchulakov and the Chairman of the Board of the Russian company Gazprom Alexey Miller. This was reported by the press service of the Ministry of Energy of Uzbekistan.
The meeting discussed the supply of Russian natural gas to Uzbekistan through the territory of Kazakhstan, in particular, the results of a preliminary technical assessment conducted by the tripartite working group, the existing opportunities for gas supplies, as well as the implementation of the bilateral road map signed by the Ministry of Energy with Gazprom in January ( at the same time, the Russian company signed a road map with the government of Kazakhstan).
“As a result of the meeting, an agreement was reached to accelerate the next stage of trilateral studies and, based on their results, re-organize the trilateral meeting in a short time”, – the message says.
Gazprom’s brief message reads: “The meeting participants discussed the possibilities of trilateral cooperation in the gas industry.”
After the signing of the road map, the Ministry of Energy reported that the goal of cooperation was “supplying gas to the domestic market in the required volumes with full retention of ownership (full retention of the right to manage) the existing gas transmission system of the Republic of Uzbekistan.”
