1.6 trillion soums to be allocated to improve infrastructure of economic zones

President Shavkat Mirziyoyev held a meeting on April 27 to discuss investment projects being implemented in free economic and small industrial zones.

Today in our country there are 23 free economic and 348 small industrial zones. The FEZ has implemented 453 projects totaling $ 2.6 billion and created about 36 thousand jobs. The MPZ implemented 1,497 projects with a total cost of 5 trillion soums, provided employment for more than 36 thousand people.

However, the potential of these zones has not yet been fully realized. To use their capabilities, the head of state signed today a decree “On measures for the further development of the engineering and communication infrastructure of special economic and small industrial zones.” According to the document, this year 1 trillion 600 billion soums will be allocated to improve the infrastructure of the FEZ and the refinery.

In particular, 584 billion soums will be allocated for the construction of electricity, gas and water supply networks, sewerage and roads in 17 free economic zones, another 395 billion soums will be allocated for the development of 145 small industrial zones.

The provision of infrastructure for large investment projects provides for the allocation of 232 billion soums. 264 billion soums will be allocated for the accelerated development of industry and business in 33 underdeveloped regions.

Responsible persons have been instructed to establish strict control over the allocation and targeted use of these funds.

At the meeting, President Shavkat Mirziyoyev noted that the timely launch of projects is most important today.

This year, it is planned to implement 332 projects worth $ 1.1 billion in the FEZ and 1,800 projects worth 9.5 trillion soums in the refinery.

The responsible persons reported on these projects, which will make an important contribution to the further development of industry in the country, the production of import-substituting and export-oriented products.

The meeting considered proposals for the implementation of new promising projects in free economic and small industrial zones.
