The first grocery supermarkets of the Dutch Spar chain will open in Uzbekistan in mid-2024, Spot reports citing the “Korzinka” press service.
At the Retail Central Asia PLUS forum in Tashkent, Nargisa Baymirzaeva, director of corporate development for the local Korzinka chain, announced that Korzinka had bought the Spar franchise and would represent the retailer in the republic.
“Spar is entering the Uzbekistan market next year through partner Korzinka. We bought the license and will represent Spar in Uzbekistan”, – she said.
According to her, “strategic discussions are underway” between Korzinka and Spar on two possible ways to develop a new network in the country. However, Baymirzaeva emphasized that Spar hypermarkets will not operate in Uzbekistan, instead of which it is planned to develop small-format supermarkets.
Cooperation serves will develop retail trade, create new jobs and train qualified personnel in the field of service and trade.
The Dutch grocery supermarket chain Spar (formerly De Spar) was founded in 1932. Spar currently operates in 48 countries with nearly 14,000 locations.
