Prospects for deepening Uzbek-Kyrgyz multifaceted cooperation were discussed

On October 18 this year, negotiations were held via videoconference between the Deputy Prime Minister – Minister of Investments and Foreign Trade of the Republic of Uzbekistan Jamshid Khodjaev and Deputy Chairman of the Cabinet of Ministers of the Kyrgyz Republic Bakyt Torobaev. The dialogue of the parties, which was held in an expanded format, was also attended by the heads of ministries and departments, industry associations and diplomatic missions of the two countries.

During the meeting, an exchange of views took place on topical issues of bilateral cooperation in the field of industrial cooperation, agriculture, transport and logistics, as well as organizational aspects of holding bilateral events.

In particular, in the field of developing industrial cooperation, they discussed the prospects for establishing the production of agricultural machinery, cars, building materials and calcium carbide. In this context, the issues of creating the Center for Industrial Cooperation in the border area and the textile complex, as well as the construction of the Kogart small hydroelectric power station with a capacity of 6.7 MW were also considered. An agreement was reached to complete the development of a package of investment agreements as soon as possible.

Having discussed the possibilities of increasing cooperation in the field of agriculture, the parties agreed to intensify cooperation in organizing the joint cultivation of food and seed potatoes, creating livestock complexes, as well as in terms of supplying agricultural products, equipment for greenhouses and raw materials for the production of wool products.

In the field of transport and logistics cooperation, the possibility of resuming passenger bus and rail transportation, increasing the number of flights between the two countries and building the Irkeshtam-Daroot-Korgon-Uch-Korgon highway was discussed. Readiness was expressed to take the whole range of necessary measures in this direction.

In a separate order, the parties considered the issues of holding the 10th meeting of the Joint Uzbek-Kyrgyz Intergovernmental Commission on Bilateral Cooperation and a business forum at a high organizational and substantive level with the broad involvement of the heads of regions of the two countries in Bishkek.

As a result of the meeting, mutual commitment was expressed to continue active interaction in order to accelerate the implementation of the discussed issues and initiatives.
