Pakistani Company Begins Implementing a “Smart City” Project in Khiva

Pakistani construction and infrastructure company “Habib Rafiq Engineering (Pvt.) Ltd.” has begun practical implementation of an investment project to develop a “smart city” in Khiva, the correspondent of the Dunyo news agency reports.

The project is the result of lengthy negotiations between the Embassy of Uzbekistan in Pakistan, the Khorezm Region administration, and “Habib Rafiq Engineering”.

The initiative envisages expanding the territory of Khiva and creating a new urban district based on modern urban planning principles.

As part of the project, residential complexes, social and commercial facilities, transport and engineering infrastructure, utility facilities, and other structures required by residents are planned to be constructed in stages.

To promote the project, a company delegation, with the support of the Embassy, visited Khorezm Region several times. During the visits, specialists studied the proposed sites, following which the regional administration and the company signed a memorandum of understanding on the implementation of the investment project.

“Habib Rafiq Engineering” intends to draw on its experience in Pakistan in the construction of major urban and infrastructure projects.

The project is expected to become one of the practical areas of economic cooperation between Uzbekistan and Pakistan and contribute to the development of modern urban infrastructure in Khiva.
