Negotiations between the Presidents of Russia and Uzbekistan took place in a traditionally open, constructive and friendly atmosphere

Following the results of the high-level negotiations held at the Kuksaroy residence, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev and the President of the Russian Federation Vladimir Putin made statements for representatives of the media, the press service of the head of our state reports.

Speaking at a briefing, the head of our state noted that he considers Vladimir Putin’s visit – one of his first foreign visits after his re-election as President of the Russian Federation – as evidence of a special attitude and respect for Uzbekistan and our multinational people, confirmation of the current high level of bilateral cooperation and common a firm commitment to deepening Uzbek-Russian relations.

– I would like to emphasize that the state visit of the President of Russia is, without exaggeration, a historical event that marks the beginning of a new milestone in our multifaceted cooperation, – said Shavkat Mirziyoyev.

The President of Uzbekistan emphasized that great preparations had been made for the current summit. Meetings of parliamentarians, political consultations, and mutual visits of government delegations of the two countries were fruitful.

In April, the International Exhibition “Innoprom” was held in Tashkent, agreements were reached on hundreds of new cooperation projects.

This month, the leaders of all regions of Uzbekistan also visited partners in the regions of Russia. The day before, conferences of rectors of leading engineering and technical universities and heads of reputable medical institutions of the two countries were productive. These days, the Russian Art Week events continue in Tashkent.

We noted with great satisfaction the results of today’s negotiations, which took place in a traditionally open, constructive and friendly atmosphere.

The leaders discussed in detail the entire range of current issues on the bilateral agenda, listened to reports from delegation members on key areas, and exchanged views on international and regional issues.

Particular attention was paid to increasing practical cooperation in the trade and economic sphere. The parties agreed on the importance of further increasing trade turnover. The goal has been set to achieve a target of $30 billion in the future.

The countries have made serious progress in industrial cooperation. During the negotiations, specific projects in the field of energy, petrochemistry, metallurgy, mechanical engineering, agriculture, logistics and innovative industries were considered.

Evidence of this is the fact that today more than 3 thousand joint ventures are successfully operating in Uzbekistan. In addition, the project portfolio is about $45 billion.

It was separately noted that during the current visit, agreements were signed on new projects worth more than $20 billion.

The President of our country announced the imminent launch of a joint Investment platform to promote cooperation.

It was especially noted that cooperation between regions is becoming a real driver of Uzbek-Russian economic and humanitarian cooperation.

Agreements have been reached to transform the Forum of Regions into the Council of Regions of the two countries, chaired by the heads of state, the first meeting of which will take place today.

The heads of state specifically focused on building up strategic cooperation in the energy sector.

Thus, last year the supply of Russian natural gas to Uzbekistan began. During the current negotiations, issues of increasing the volume of supplies of gas, oil and petroleum products, implementing projects for modernizing infrastructure and deep processing of hydrocarbons on the basis of Uzbek enterprises were discussed.

An agreement was signed on the implementation of a project for the construction of a low-power nuclear power plant in our country.

– Almost all leading countries in the world ensure their energy security and sustainable development through nuclear energy. Having large own reserves of uranium and exporting it to third countries, this project is vital for us if we think about the prospects for entering a new stage of development of Uzbekistan, – President Shavkat Mirziyoyev emphasized.

Specific plans have been outlined to deepen cooperation in agriculture, in the field of transport and logistics, digitalization and artificial intelligence.

Active contacts and exchanges will continue in the fields of culture and art, tourism, science, education, healthcare, youth and sports. Today, a large package of agreements and agreements in these priority areas has been adopted.

This year, Uzbekistan will host a series of major Russian cultural events, including Cinema Days. Days of Culture of Uzbekistan, exhibitions and tours of our theaters will take place in Russia.

The leaders noted the importance of developing cooperation in the fields of education and healthcare. We spoke in support of ongoing dialogue and productive partnership between leading universities and medical institutions of the two countries.

Joint work on training engineering personnel has begun. The branch of the Moscow State Technical University named after Nikolai Bauman in Tashkent, established for these purposes, will become the fifteenth branch of leading Russian universities operating in our country.

A separate topic of the negotiations was issues of cooperation in the field of migration. An agreement was reached on new effective mechanisms of interaction in this area.

The importance of continuing regular consultations between foreign policy agencies and deepening dialogue within the framework of regional and international structures – the United Nations, the Commonwealth of Independent States, and the Shanghai Cooperation Organization – was confirmed.

The focus of Uzbekistan and Russia will remain on issues of close interaction between competent authorities and special services to counter traditional and new challenges and threats, primarily terrorism, extremism, organized crime and drug trafficking.

In conclusion, the leader of our state again expressed deep satisfaction with the results of the negotiations and thanked his Russian colleague for the arrival in Uzbekistan of a representative delegation consisting of the heads of all major ministries and departments and constituent entities of Russia.

Confidence was expressed that the substantive meetings and fruitful results of the state visit of the President of Russia to Uzbekistan will serve to further strengthen bilateral relations of friendship, comprehensive strategic partnership and alliance, and will open a new chapter in interstate interaction.
