The Ambassador of Uzbekistan Bahrom Babayev met with the State Secretary of the Ministry of Development and Technology of Poland, the government commissioner for foreign investment, co-chairman of the Polish-Uzbek Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation Grzegosz Piechowiak, the correspondent of “Dunyo” news agency reports.
The parties discussed trade and economic relations between Uzbekistan and Poland, prospects for cooperation in the investment and financial sectors.
The Polish side emphasized that Uzbekistan is the most important, promising and long-term partner in the Central Asian region, and Warsaw is interested in further expanding mutually beneficial cooperation in the trade and economic sphere, including investing funds and the latest technologies in various sectors of the economy of our country.
At the meeting, issues of organizing the 8th meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission on Economic Cooperation and a business forum within its framework were considered.
It was noted that the Polish side is preparing for this event comprehensively and thoroughly. Readiness was expressed to sign the Agreement on the establishment of the Uzbek-Polish Business Council, as well as specific investment and trade agreements between the countries.
During the meeting, the attention of the Secretary of State was drawn to the possibility of attracting investments and advanced Polish technologies in the agricultural sector, construction, energy, mining and agricultural engineering in Uzbekistan. The possibility of participation of Polish investors and power engineers in the program for the construction of 250 micro hydroelectric power plants in our country, as well as wind and solar stations was discussed.
As a result of the meeting, the Polish side gave a high assessment to the development of cooperation between our countries in the investment field, it was emphasized that the noted industries are promising, important and interesting for the Polish side. An agreement was reached to attract leading Polish enterprises as potential partners for further discussion of issues of establishing cooperation in these areas.
