During his official visit to Japan, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with Masakazu Sekiguchi, President of the House of Councilors of the Japanese Parliament, the press service of the head of our state reports.
At the meeting, it was noted that parliaments play a significant role in promoting the Uzbek-Japanese strategic partnership and multifaceted cooperation. Representatives of the House of Councilors actively participated in the 150th anniversary session of the Inter-Parliamentary Union in Tashkent in April of this year.
Particular attention was paid to supporting youth parliamentary initiatives, including the Forum of Young Parliamentarians of Uzbekistan and Japan and the participation of the Japanese delegation in the Global Conference of Young Parliamentarians in Samarkand in 2026.
The importance of parliaments’ comprehensive support for the practical implementation of high-level agreements was emphasized, particularly on expanding trade, economic, financial, investment, technological, cultural, and humanitarian cooperation.
