The President of Uzbekistan discussed with the head of the Government of Pakistan issues of expanding mutually beneficial cooperation

As part of a working visit to the city of Astana, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev met with the Prime Minister of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan Shahbaz Sharif, the press service of the head of our state reports.

Current issues of further development of the Uzbek-Pakistani strategic partnership relations, primarily in the trade, economic, investment and transport and communications spheres, were discussed.

Active contacts at different levels were noted with satisfaction. The volume of mutual trade and cargo transportation and the number of joint ventures are growing.

The head of our state emphasized the importance of continuing work to create favorable conditions for increasing trade turnover within the framework of the Preferential Trade Agreement.

The importance of adopting a joint Industrial Cooperation Program for 2025-2026, which provides for the implementation of projects in agriculture, textiles, pharmaceuticals, chemicals and other industries, was noted.

An agreement was reached to hold the next meeting of the Intergovernmental Commission, a business forum and an industrial exhibition this year.

The importance of joint efforts in the practical promotion of the Trans-Afghan Railway construction project was emphasized.

An exchange of views on issues on the regional agenda also took place.
