The President of Uzbekistan determined the priorities of the strategic partnership with the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations

On September 7, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received the Director General of the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) Qu Dongyu, who is in our country to participate in the International Conference on Food Security, the press service of the head of our state reports.

At the beginning of the meeting, the leader of our country congratulated the distinguished guest on his re-election to the position of the head of the leading sectoral structure of the United Nations and expressed gratitude for the support and personal participation in the work of the conference, which is taking place these days in the city of Samarkand.

The FAO Director-General congratulated the President of Uzbekistan on the successful implementation of the initiative and the organization at the highest level of an international forum on the current global agenda.

An exchange of views took place on issues of countering modern challenges and threats to food security, including at the regional level.

Imbalances in the development of the agricultural sector, shortage of water resources, long and inefficient value chains, failures in logistics and others are identified as the main risks of sustainable development.

An agreement was reached to include in the new Program of Cooperation between Uzbekistan and FAO until 2030 joint measures to modernize agriculture based on scientific research and innovation, digitalization of the agricultural sector, the implementation of effective financial support tools and the introduction of effective mechanisms for managing the agro-food system.
