On November 24, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev, as part of the program of activities of a working visit to the city of Baku, held negotiations with the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev, the press service of the head of our state reports.
The leader of Azerbaijan sincerely thanked the President of Uzbekistan for his support and personal participation in the first summit of the UN Special Program for the Economies of Central Asia (SPECA).
The head of our state, in turn, congratulated the President of Azerbaijan on his successful chairmanship in SPECA.
Issues of further strengthening Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations of friendship and strategic partnership were discussed, including the progress in the implementation of agreements reached at the highest level.
It was noted with satisfaction that thanks to systematic and productive contacts, Uzbek-Azerbaijani relations have reached a qualitatively new level, filled with specific content.
Since the beginning of the year, trade turnover has increased by 34 percent. Cooperation projects are being implemented in the automotive, electrical, textile, energy industries, agriculture and sericulture. Prospective projects in the field of transport and logistics are being prepared.
The leaders of the two states also exchanged views on new areas of mutually beneficial cooperation. Issues of promoting promising projects in the chemical, energy, jewelry, mechanical engineering, construction industry and other areas were discussed.
The importance of further expanding cultural and humanitarian exchange was emphasized.
At the end of the meeting, the head of our state invited the President of Azerbaijan to pay an official visit to Uzbekistan at a time convenient for him.
