The sides discussed the development of trade, economic, and investment cooperation in the context of the implementation of the agreements reached during the high-level visit to Brussels in October of this year.
The EU representatives conveyed to the President of Uzbekistan the sincere greetings of European Council President António Costa and European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen.
The leader of Uzbekistan congratulated the European Commissioners on the successful holding of the third Central Asia-EU Economic Forum and the Investor Forum on the Trans-Caspian Corridor and Transport Connectivity in Tashkent, which resulted in the launch of a number of new joint regional projects.
The dynamic development of Uzbek-European relations and the formation of a new comprehensive agenda for bilateral and multilateral cooperation were noted with satisfaction.
This year, the Enhanced Partnership and Cooperation Agreement (EPCA) was signed with the European Union, summits were held in Samarkand and Brussels, and negotiations with the EU on Uzbekistan’s WTO accession were concluded.
Since the beginning of the year, trade turnover has grown by almost 7 percent. It was emphasized that the practical implementation of the EPCA will facilitate a significant increase in trade volumes and investment inflows.
The importance of further improving institutional cooperation mechanisms to expand and diversify trade and develop new joint investment projects in industrial cooperation, transport, digitalization, critical minerals, energy, healthcare, and other priority sectors was noted.
An exchange of views on current international and regional issues was also held.
