Shavkat Mirziyoyev instructed to implement localization projects worth $6 billion in Uzbekistan. The dates were not named. Economist Mirkomil Kholboev spoke about the problems of the import substitution policy, which, in his opinion, has not justified itself in recent years.
In Uzbekistan, it is planned to implement localization projects worth $6 billion. President Shavkat Mirziyoyev, at the meeting on January 10 on the development of industry and the identification of additional reserves, set this task for the Minister of Investment, Industry and Trade Laziz Kudratov.
Deputy Prime Minister Jamshid Khodjaev was instructed to control the timely launch of about 3,000 projects included in regional investment programs, ensure prompt resolution of existing problems on the ground and attract at least $50 million in additional investments to each district and city.
The head of state said that within the framework of investment programs this year, it is planned to import metal structures, pumps and refrigeration equipment worth $1 billion. “Doesn’t this mean a big market for local producers? We need to analyze how goods imported from abroad can be produced in our country and implement a localization program. How to leave these 1 billion dollars with us and give a salary to our people”, – he said.
