The President of Uzbekistan received the Japanese delegation

On July 9, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a Japanese delegation led by Chairman of the Japan Bank for International Cooperation (JBIC) Tadashi Maeda, the press service of the head of our state reports.

Issues of expanding mutually beneficial cooperation with this leading financial institution and promoting cooperation projects with Japanese companies were discussed.

It was noted with deep satisfaction that the high-level visit to Japan in December 2019 brought bilateral relations to a qualitatively new level, filling them with practical content.

The volume of mutual trade and direct Japanese investment in the economy of Uzbekistan is growing, and new joint ventures are being created.

The important role of JBIC in the implementation of priority investment projects in our country was noted. Today, the portfolio of joint projects has exceeded $3.7 billion, covering areas such as petrochemicals, textiles, energy and infrastructure modernization.

The activities of the ‘‘Sojitz Corporation’’ in Uzbekistan are highly appreciated, with which a number of large projects in the oil and gas sector have been implemented. Yesterday the opening of the company’s representative office in the city of Tashkent took place.

The head of our state noted the importance of the speedy preparation and implementation of new cooperation projects with the participation of Japanese companies in the field of ‘‘green’’ energy, geology, infrastructure modernization, utilities and healthcare.

An agreement was reached on the adoption of a three-year Cooperation Program with the Japan Bank for International Cooperation, as well as a “road map” with ‘‘Sojitz Corporation’’ for the implementation of promising projects in high-tech sectors of the economy of Uzbekistan.
