On November 21, President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev received a delegation from the People’s Republic of China led by Wang Yi, member of the Political Bureau of the CPC Central Committee, Director of the Office of the Foreign Affairs Commission, and Minister of Foreign Affairs. He arrived in Uzbekistan to participate in a regular meeting of the strategic dialogue between the heads of the two countries’ foreign ministries. This was reported by the press service of the President of Uzbekistan.
The parties discussed practical aspects of further deepening the Uzbek-Chinese comprehensive, all-weather strategic partnership in the new era and expanding multifaceted cooperation in the context of implementing high-level agreements.
At the beginning of the meeting, the Chinese Foreign Minister conveyed to the leader of our country the sincere greetings and best wishes of Chinese President Xi Jinping.
It was particularly noted with satisfaction that, thanks to the political will and joint efforts of the heads of state, bilateral relations have reached an unprecedented high level.
Last year, trade turnover reached $14 billion, with approximately 5,000 joint ventures, and nearly $15 billion in Chinese investment since the beginning of the year. The portfolio of technology partnership projects has approached $90 billion.
Attention was paid to promoting cooperation in high technology, green and nuclear energy, artificial intelligence, transport, infrastructure, agriculture, geology, chemistry, and other areas.
Contacts at all levels have intensified, regions of the two countries are effectively interacting, and meaningful educational, cultural, and humanitarian exchanges continue.
The leader of Uzbekistan noted the need for thorough preparation for upcoming high-level events and for infusing bilateral cooperation with new practical content.
The importance of actively implementing the Uzbekistan-Kyrgyzstan-China railway project and linking it with other transport routes was emphasized.
Particular attention was paid to coordination on issues of Afghanistan’s socio-economic reconstruction and security. The need to continue close political dialogue and interaction in multilateral formats, support inter-university cooperation, projects in poverty alleviation, tourism development, and other areas was noted.
Confidence was expressed in the successful holding of Chinese Culture Days in Uzbekistan at the end of November this year.
An exchange of views on international and regional issues also took place.
