President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev attended the opening ceremony of the 13th session of the World Urbanization Forum, held in Baku under the auspices of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme, the press service of the head of our state reports.
Upon arrival at the Baku Congress Center, the head of state was welcomed by President of the Republic of Azerbaijan Ilham Aliyev and Executive Director of the United Nations Human Settlements Programme Anaclaudia Rossbach.
A group photo ceremony was held for the participants.
The theme of this year’s forum is “Housing for All: Safe and Sustainable Cities and Communities.” Heads of state and government, as well as heads of international organizations and development institutions, are participating.
The forum’s agenda includes issues of sustainable urban development, expanding access to modern and affordable housing, improving the quality of the urban environment, strengthening climate resilience, developing social and transport infrastructure, and improving housing finance mechanisms.
The President of Uzbekistan will address the Forum Leaders’ Summit.
