On September 29, as part of the program of a working visit to Germany, the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Shavkat Mirziyoyev took part in a meeting of the heads of state of Central Asia with the Federal President of Germany Frank-Walter Steinmeier, the press service of the head of our state reports.
The event was also attended by the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, the President of the Kyrgyz Republic Sadyr Japarov, the President of the Republic of Tajikistan Emomali Rahmon and the National Leader of the Turkmen people, Chairman of the Khalk Maslakhaty of Turkmenistan Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov.
At the meeting, issues of strengthening constructive political dialogue, expanding trade and economic, transport and communications, cultural and humanitarian cooperation were discussed.
An exchange of views also took place on current aspects of ensuring regional security and sustainable development, including within the framework of European Union programs.
The head of our state, during his speech, specifically focused on the prospects for interaction in the “Central Asian countries – Germany” format. Particular attention is paid to priority areas of practical partnership, primarily in the field of high technology and innovative development, transport communications, green energy, vocational education, active cultural and academic exchanges.
The expansion of the presence of leading German companies and banks in Uzbekistan was noted with deep satisfaction. There has been a growing interest among our youth in learning the German language – today almost 300 thousand schoolchildren and students study it.
During the conversation, the Federal President of Germany congratulated the leader of Uzbekistan on the successful holding of a unique exhibition of cultural and historical heritage in the world famous James Simon Gallery in Berlin. In just a few months, the exhibition was visited by more than 200 thousand residents and guests of the German capital.
